WEEK 1: SPIRITUAL GIFTS
In week 1 of The Summit, you learned about spiritual gifts and how we all play a special role in the body of Christ. It's important that each of us take our role seriously, otherwise the church won't function properly.
You also learned that Christ is the head of the body and the one who gave you your gifts. This means that everything you do is supposed to please God and help point others toward Christ. The spiritual gifts test you took was just the start of trying to figure out what your gifts may be. This doesn't mean these are the only gifts you have, but it's a good place to start.
The Base Camp training below is designed to help reinforce what you learned on Sunday. Take time this week to complete the tasks below. They will better equip you to utilize your spiritual gifts in the body of Christ.

WEEK 2: THE BIBLE
In week 2 of The Summit, you learned about what the Bible is and why it's important. It has history, poems, songs, letters, separated into 66 books making up two major sections - the Old and New Testaments. But there's more to the Bible than how big it is.
Did you know that the Bible was written over approximately 1600 years in three different languages, on three different continents, by 40 different authors? You would think that is would be hard to make all of those authors agree with each other on everything, But, you'd be wrong. Why?
2 Timothy 3:16 says that scripture (the Bible) was given by "inspiration of God." Basically, God breathed it out. The human authors were just writing down what God told them to write. So really, God is the author, and we know we can trust his Word!
We also learned why the Bible is important. In that same verse, Paul tells us that God's Word is good for teaching us what to believe, what not to believe, how to get right, and how to stay right. Everything you need to know to follow God.

WEEK 3: THE BIBLE
In week 3 of The Summit, you learned about some basic Bible study techniques. We talked about the S.O.A.P. method that helps you to read some SCRIPTURE, and then make some OBSERVATIONS and APPLICATIONS, followed by PRAYING for God to help you to live out the things you just learned.
Reading your Bible is not something that we are trying to trick you into doing (like when your parents said brussel sprouts were yummy). No. We simply want you to know the promises and truths that God has said for yourself.
When you are a baby, someone has to feed you. You can't do it on your own. But eventually, you are able to do more and more. That's a good things. No one wants to have to be fed by their mom for the rest of their life. That's what reading the Bible can be like. You start off with someone reading it to you, or hearing it in church, but now it's time to start feeding yourself spiritually. It's time to start reading God's Word on your own.

WEEK 4: PRAYER
In week 4 of The Summit, you learned about prayer. It's something believers have been doing from the very beginning. And it's one of the most important aspects of a healthy walk with the Lord.
Do you have a best friend? What if you never talked to them? What would happen if every time they texted you, you were too busy to talk? What would happen to your friendship, if you talked to other friends at school, but not to your best friend?
I think it's obvious. You wouldn't be "besties" any more. Why? Because you never communicate, you don't know what's going on in their life. You don't know what they like and don't like. You don't find out anything new or tell them anything exciting. You just stop knowing each other.
God wants to have a close friendship with each of you. But that relationship is a two-way street. God continues to communicate to us through his Word, and he wants us to communicate to him through prayer. Don't go a day without talking to the person who loves you more than anything in the world!

WEEK 5: IDENTITY
In week 5 of The Summit, you learned about who you really are in Christ.
The "world" tries to put tons of labels on people. Popular. Athlete. Loner. Geek. The list of labels can go on forever.
We also put labels on ourselves. Sometimes we label ourselves based on mistakes we've made, like: D-Student, Liar, Trouble-Maker. Sometimes we try to label ourselves as our successes: Winner, A-Student, Good Kid.
Our enemy, the devil, also tries to label us. He is called the "accuser of the brethren" and does a good job. He tries to pin us with labels like: Unloveable. Mistake. Failure. Worthless.
But only one label really matters. That's the one from the Creator and Sustainer of everyone and everything...God. When we put our faith in his Son, Jesus, we are no longer what the world, the devil, or even what we label ourselves to be. We are given a new identity in Jesus. And nothing can change that.
